What it does
- Inline calculations: Write expressions in Word and get the result in place.
- Units & conversions: Use units (m, s, N, J, kWh, yard, lb, psi, year, day, …) and convert automatically; dimensional consistency helps avoid mistakes.
- Variables & dependencies: Define variables once and reuse them—changing inputs updates dependent results.
- Scientific math: Arithmetic, powers/roots, trigonometry, degrees/radians, complex numbers, and common constants.
- Reproducible documents: Keep narrative, images, and math together in one Word file for clear, auditable work.
Who it’s for
Everyday users: split a restaurant bill, convert units, or quickly check 35 * 77 / 2 without leaving your document.
Students & Teachers: keep problem and solution, explanation and calculation together in one place.
Engineers: write lab reports, assignments, specs, and technical notes while staying in Word for math.
Installing
In Word: Home → Add-ins → More Add-Ins → search “Calcumber Math Journal” → Add.
Or get it from Microsoft Marketplace.
Get started
- Install the Calcumber Math Journal Add-in
- Open a new or existing Word document
- In the Math ribbon click Math Line
- Type an expression like:
s = 1/2 * 10 m/s^2 * (5 s)^2 =
➔ evaluates to:125 m - Edit input later ➔ result updates accordingly.
